Makayla Nicole is a Creative Director, Cinematographer and Editor. A diligent, artful creator with optimistic and ambitious resolve, her vision is to tell stories buoyed with hope that explore the voids and fullness of the world.
Makayla was introduced to the world of film through her work as an actress, her earliest professional aspiration. Her increasing curiosity and devotion to the art of storytelling provided a seamless progression from the world of acting to the world of production.
Also heavily contributing to her evolution as a filmmaker are her travels to the Czech Republic, United Kingdom, Mexico, Italy, Greece, Switzerland, New York City, and Hawaii studying various cultures and spaces; such as travel writing, aesthetics, and society. Additionally, she studied French film history at l’Université Lumière Lyon 2 in the illustrious birthplace of cinema, Lyon, France.
Inspired by the works of Melina Matsoukas, Abderrahmane Sissako, and Jean-Luc Godard, Makayla Nicole merges her love of culture, film, and music into an eloquent élan that emotes a warm, honest, and deeply personal exposé of life.
